Volvo PV444 sport black oldtimer

In August 1958, the Volvo PV544, a modern version of the PV444, sees the light of day. Since the unveiling of the PV444 in 1944, a car has never undergone such drastic changes. A larger, convex windscreen characterizes the exterior. In addition, the rear window is enlarged for better visibility. There are also numerous improvements inside. The top of the new dashboard is padded to make the interior safer. The speedometer is like a thermometer: a red strip indicates the speed. Compared to its predecessor, the PV444, this car has a new rear seat for more comfort and more space. This way an extra passenger can ride along.

This car is also more modern on a technical level. The Volvo PV444 was only available with one type of engine (except in North America). The PV544 added a second motor to this. A four-speed manual transmission is now available for the first time. Under the hood, the PV544 is constantly being modernized. The most important change takes place in 1961: the famous B18 engine is mounted and the electrical system is converted to a voltage of 12 volts.
